I. Who She Is

First season. Already obsessed.

She just started. This is her first season, maybe her second. She doesn't know the rules, doesn't know the etiquette, and honestly doesn't know why everyone keeps saying fore. But she hit one shot on Hole 4 that felt like something — and she hasn't stopped talking about it since.

She bought her clubs secondhand and she's not embarrassed about it. She watched three TikToks and decided that counted as a lesson. She doesn't know what a birdie feels like yet but she knows what it feels like to laugh so hard on the fairway that you forget your score. That's better.

The thing about The Beginner is — she's not apologizing for being new. She's not asking permission. She showed up, took up space, and had more fun than the woman who's been playing for twenty years and hasn't smiled since Hole 1. Give her one more season and she'll be the one everyone wants in their group. She already is. She just doesn't know it yet.

Ritual.

Before

Googled what to wear golfing this morning. Texted the group do I need my own tees. Showed up looking better than everyone and carrying the wrong bag.

During

Whiffs the first shot and laughs harder than anyone. Asks is that good after every swing. Hits one incredible shot that nobody can explain. Takes a selfie on the cart and it becomes her profile photo for three months.

After

Says that was SO fun four times. Immediately asks when the next one is. Texts everyone individually to say thanks. Already looking at clubs online.
